& Rules of Conduct

Active
Members & Alternates
(Updated 12/28/04)
Powers of Fate, as a guild, offers membership to the PLAYER,
not the CHARACTER(s). Therefore, we do not guild players who have
characters in other EverQuest guilds. Having characters in
other guilds will affect your membership status with Powers of Fate. This does not include persons who are members of guilds in other on-line games such as EverQuest II, World of Warcraft, Dark Ages of Camelot, Ultima Online, etc. Persons who join guilds on servers other than Quellious will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
You may select one of your characters to be your <MAIN> character. Your main does not need to be your highest level character. Only main characters have their Graveyard Deaths, A.A. Points, and Tradeskills (including Languages) tracked. You must post your own Dings, Pings, Lings, Deaths, A.A. Points, and Tradeskills. Please do NOT post for other players. If your main character and any alternate reach level 65, you may choose to have a "Multi Main" character. Please notify Radjan should this occur as it does not happen automatically on the website or on the Guild Management Tool. "Multi Main" characters will have their A.A. Points and Tradeskills tracked, but it is your responsibility to do so.
Players may guild as many alternates as they wish
in Powers of Fate. If you would like to have an alternate guilded,
please post the information about that character (name / race /
class / level) on the message board in the appropriate forum. No
alternates will be guilded without having posted first. The officers
of Powers of Fate are required to check the message boards prior
to guilding a new alternate.
If any of your alternates are characters that at one time did NOT belong to you (you took over a retired account, or are "keeping" an account that belonged to a friend), you may choose to have those alternates guilded into Powers of Fate while they are under your control. Once the original player comes out of retirement or takes back his or her account, those characters will be deguilded immediately. These alternates may NOT be considered for "Multi Main" status.
Characters who are level 40 and higher will
be featured on the Active members page of our website. When a character
gets to level 40, they will be added to the Active members page.
As your character levels, you must post a message to the appropriate
forum before your character is added to the "DING" section
of the website (located on the Home page.) Posting will also get
your character updated on the Active members page and the Milestones
page.
Allies
/ Friends / Enemies / Associations
Allies
Currently, Powers of Fate is not formally
allied with any other guild in Norrath.
Friends
Powers of Fate is on friendly terms with
every guild in Norrath.
Enemies
Hopefully there will never be a need for
an actual Guild War. Powers of Fate shall not actively seek to war
with or make derogatory remarks about another guild. If a particular
situation arises, bring it to the attention of the Guild Leaders
and let them deal with the parties involved. The exception to this
would be a friendly war-game in which we simply wish to have fun
and test our skills in battle with much drinking and merriment associated
with the event. Even in this setting, Powers of Fate will not act
in a dishonorable fashion with the other guild.
Associations
Powers of Fate is a member of the Organized
Raiders of Quellious (ORQ) group. To learn more about ORQ, please
visit their website. Radjan is the administrator for ORQ.
Anonymous
/ Roleplay
Members shall display their guild tag at all times. Use the /roleplay
command if you must to hide your class, level, and current zone.
It has the same effect as going anonymous but your guild tag is
still visible and your name turns purple. Do not go into /anonymous
mode via the options menu as this causes your guild tag to disappear.
You should not, for any reason, need to hide your guild tag.
Arguments
(Updated
8/22/04)
Verbal arguments in /shouts and /oocs are strongly discouraged.
Dignity is shown when one can settled disagreements through /tells.
If the other party is engaging in a verbal battle with you via /shouts
and /oocs, simply zone or ignore them. This includes posting verbally abusive messages on EverQuest-related flame boards.
Assistance
Before helping someone with a struggle, ask if they require help
first, if they have not already yelled for such. A good way to judge
this is to look at their health and then the creature's. If they
have but a sliver of health left, then by all means heal them and/or
provide other assistance.
Begging
No member of Powers of Fate shall beg a player character. (Begging
NPCs for skill gains is, of course, acceptable). Do not ask, or
even hint, in guild chat that you would like another player to give
you items.
Camping
/ Hunting Areas
Powers of Fate follows the Play Nice Policy Verant set forth in
EverQuest. This basically means that you may not claim a camp as
your own. If another group wants to fight in the same area that
you are fighting, you must share the spawn. You should only engage
mobs that your group can reasonably fight. If another group comes
along and wants to engage a mob near you that you haven't already
engaged, they have a right to do so.
In higher-end zones, players do call camp checks and
tend to work with each other for the spawns in those zones. It takes
a great deal of effort to work your way into a dungeon to get to
a certain spot and to have another group leapfrog over you and claim
that spot can be frustrating. Verant frowns upon this type of "leapfrogging"
and it is our policy never to do this to another group. If this
is done to you, please let one of the leaders or officers know and
we will try to handle it as diplomatically as we can. However, if
the behaviour of our members during this conflict do not reflect
honor and dignity (i.e. name-calling, threats, etc), you will not
have the backing of our leaders and officers and disciplinary action
may be in order.
Always remember the following when hunting in any
zone. If you must run to the zone to escape an over-zealous pull,
remember to shout "TRAIN TO ZONE!" to let anyone sitting
at the zone know; and, if someone asks for a Camp Check, you may
state the area in which you are hunting. Normally, this means the
other group will leave you alone. If you claim multiple camps, expect
to have visitors soon to hunt in that area also.
Communication/TeamSpeak
(Updated 12/28/04)
Powers of Fate is an "open door" guild. You should always
feel free to talk to any of our officers or either of our leaders
about anything. If you're online and you're not getting a response,
there may be no one else online in guild (check the Guild Management
Tool to make sure you're not talking to yourself.) Also, make sure
those online are not in the bazaar. If they are, chances are, their
owner is not at the keyboard. No one likes to be ignored, but as
you can see, it happens (albeit not intentionally.) Another suggestion
is to create a new chat window just for guild-say. That way, chat
won't fly by during combat.
Many of us use an internet communication tool called TeamSpeak to talk with each other during game play. Everyone is welcome to join the TeamSpeak channel (the log in and password information is located on our message board); however, please understand the following:
Absolutely NO ONE under 16 is allowed on our TeamSpeak channel at any time. This is for adults-only and adult language is allowed.
We have had as many as 14 people on TeamSpeak at the same time. When there are this many people talking, the server becomes congested and voices start sounding like static. Should this occur, the TeamSpeak Administrators (Strumm and Reynic) have the right to partition players into separate TeamSpeak channels.
If you are idle for over an hour, we will assume you've either fallen asleep or forgot to log off TeamSpeak. If this happens, an Administrator reserves the right to "kick" you from the channel.
You must have a headset (headphones and built-in microphone) in order to use our TeamSpeak channel. Using your computers speakers and table-top microphone causes too much static, echo, and feedback on the channel.
TeamSpeak should never take the place of regular group / raid / or guildsay, especially if there are members in your group or raid who are not on the channel.
Foul language will not be tolerated in guild chat. If you are not sure about whether you should use a word or not, you probably should not.
Equipment
/ Armor / Weapons / Other Items
(Update 8/22/04)
Player Made Items
Guild members should sell personally created
items to other guild members at material cost, although other arrangements
can be made between the individual parties doing the trading. It
is not unfair to ask players to help defray the cost of ingredients
for player made items. Some items, such as alchemy potions, cost
as much as 252pp per attempt.
Member Given Items
Many times a higher-level member
will give, or loan, a lower-level member an item. This is done on
a purely volunteer basis. Many members of the guild do this. However,
do not expect to be showered with gifts, as we are not considered
a "twinking" guild. Important
if you are given an
item by another member, only accept it if you will actually use
it. When you are done using the item, it should either be returned
to the original owner (as requested when the trade is made), or
passed down to another guild member. It is the responsibility of
both parties to make clear, at the time of exchange, the conditions
of the trade.
Other Items
Please use common sense with regard
to items obtained in your travels and adventures. If you win the
role on an item that you do not need, it is certainly your option
to sell that item at fair market value. Offering it to guild-mates
first, however, is always appreciated. Post the item on the message
board with stats and the selling price. If you do not receive a
response in a timely manner, by all means, sell the item at the
bazaar. If you have room, and would like to donate to the Guild Bank, hang onto Tradeskill or Research items and pass them along to the designated mules.
Guild Bank
(Updated 8/22/04)
The Powers of Fate guild "bank" consists of several mules who hold different types of items. There is a mule for Words (Tuaswords), Pages (Hiddwin), and Runes (Tinnun). A mule for Spells (Spyls), Resist Gear (Tannja), and miscellaneous Tradeskill items (Hydrangea). We also keep guild funds in Radjan's shared bank slot.
Tradeskill Items & Research Components
All members of Powers of Fate are welcome to have any of the Tradeskill Items and/or Research Components on the Words, Pages, Runes, or Tradeskill mules as long as these items are used within your tradeskill or research level range. In other words, please do not use Acrylia bricks for smithing if your smithing skill is only 14. As far as research items, members should increase their skills using practice items prior to using stacks of words, pages or runes.
Spells
All members of Powers of Fate are welcome to have any of the Spells available with the following limitations: You should be no less than one level below the requirement of the spell. Priority will be given to MAIN characters over alternates.
Resist Gear
All members of Powers of Fate are welcome to USE the resist gear in our Guild Bank whenever needed. If a particular raid requires the use of the resist gear, then you may "check out" those pieces from the bank for that raid. Please remember to return them when the raid is over.
Funds
The funds in the Guild Bank are distributed solely at the discretion of the guild leaders. If you have a particular need, please speak with one of the leaders. Decisions to withdraw funds from the Guild Bank will be made on a case-by-case basis.
Inactive
Status
(Updated 3/9/05)
Because of the lure of alternate online games and the inactivity of our guild leaders and many of our guild members due to these games and other extenuating circumstances, the Guideline regarding the Inactive Status of our membership has temporarily been removed. No member will be placed on Inactive Status, nor deguided due to their inactivity unless they post their permanent retirement from EverQuest.
Item
Transfers
Item transfers between players is acceptable only if you personally
know the other player. Please do not ask anyone outside our guild
to help you transfer items from one character to another. This is
a very risky venture not only for the player wanting to transfer
items, but for the player who wants to help. With the increase of
accounts being hacked and items being stolen, the leaders of Powers
of Fate make it a practice to never transfer items for anyone without
knowing them personally. Therefore, asking someone to do it for
you puts them in a difficult situation.
Joining
Powers of Fate is an invitation-only guild. If you are interested
in joining Powers of Fate, please seek out, and group with, any
of our members. We cannot promise an invitation, but if we find
that you exhibit the same qualities we seek for our guild, we will
consider extending an invitation to you. Click HERE to read more about our Recruitment Policy.
Powers of Fate had an unwritten rule that
players would automatically be invited into our guild if they personally
knew another player in the guild (knew them in real life, not just
in EverQuest.) This unwritten rule has been revoked.
If a member of Powers of Fate has a real life family member or friend
who is interested in Powers of Fate, they must go through the same
process as any other potential member.
Leading Groups, Raids & Events
(Updated 9/8/04)
Any member may lead any type of group, raid or event by posting their intentions on the message board. When you are setting up your event post, please be sure to be specific with your event rules, including level ranges, maximum attendance, required classes, gear requirements (such as resists), and loot distribution.
Please be aware that although we encourage attendance and support by our guild family, members are not required to attend any posted raid.
Leaving
A member may leave Powers of Fate anytime they wish. We would request
that you let one of the Guild Leaders know your reasons for leaving,
especially if it is due to a grievance with the guild itself or
one of its members in case a solution can be worked out. No member
of Powers of Fate shall treat someone leaving the guild with disrespect
or dishonor.
Loot
Policy
(Updated 9/8/04)
It is a general policy throughout most of the guilds in Norrath
to have each member of a group roll (/random #) on all items dropped
by NPCs. This is true for Powers of Fate as well, with the following
exceptions:
You should only roll on the item if you can equip or use the item
yourself.
You should
never roll with the intent of giving the item to an alternate, unless
the roll has been opened to alternates.
If you
already have the item, you should forfeit your roll.
Never should any member of Powers of Fate be accused
of Ninja Looting (looting an NPC the second it drops,) stealing
the loot from an NPC that another group kills, looting No Drop items
prior to deciding whom should loot, and looting items you say you
can use, only to use the item for trade or distribution to an alternate.
These are just guidelines. If your group decides and
agrees on a loot policy which differs from these rules, that is
fine. As long as everyone agrees ahead of time. When you plan to sign up for a guild-sponsored (or non-guild-sponsored) raid, understand the loot policies prior to signing up.
BOTTOM LINE: No member of Powers of Fate will act
dishonorably regarding loot. Our friendships and the honor of our
guild are far more valuable than anything that drops in Norrath.
Message Board
All new members are required to create an EZBoard
account and post a message in the General Discussion forum on the
message board introducing themselves to the guild. The website and
message board are vital communication tools for our guild. Members
should also keep their membership information up-to-date. The Powers
of Fate Message Board has Gold status, which means our board
is pop-up-free for our users. As the cost of this is minimal, Strumm
and Radjan are happy to pay the fee. We have not and will never
solicit funds from our members for this.
Organization
(Updated 12/28/04)
Guild Leaders - There are two Guild Leaders of Powers of Fate. Both
Strumm and Radjan share the responsibility of the guild, and the
upkeep of the website and message board. They currently have many
accounts and many of their alternate characters have officer status.
Guild Officers are Torq, Reynic, Pusinbutes and all of their alternates.
Officer status is only given to Active members who are not leaders or officers of guilds in other games including (but not limited to) EverQuest II, World of Warcraft, Dark Ages of Camelot, Ultima Online, etc.
Power Leveling
Power Leveling is when a highly seasoned adventurer assists a lower
level player in hunting foes much stronger than they normally could
hunt alone, thus gain experience faster than normal. It is up to
the individual member(s) to decide if they wish to help power level
someone. It is not a requirement that members will power level others
or that members should expect to be power leveled. Many members
are, however, glad to do so.
It is the opinion of the leaders of Powers of Fate
that no member should be powerleveled past the highest level that
that player obtained on their own by another character through normal
play and without high level aide. It would be a disservice to that
player and to our guild, for example, to powerlevel a cleric only
to find out that cleric has no skills in Alteration for lack of
practice. It is also the opinion of the leaders that players new
to EverQuest achieve levels on their own to understand the nuances
of each level of the game.
Retired
Status
(Updated 12/28/04)
Those who leave the game of EverQuest
may have their MAIN CHARACTER ONLY listed on the Retired page of this website, but will be de-guilded. All alternates will be de-guilded, as well. This page is only for those who announce their retirement on the message board. For those who leave the game without announcing their retirement will be considered Inactive and the guidelines for Inactive players will apply. If you decide to return to Norrath and come out of Retirement, please post your intentions on our message board, along with the names/levels/classes/races of the alternates you wish to have re-guilded. Also, you must acknowledge that you have read and are willing to abide by these guild guidelines.
Twinking
(Updated
8/20/04)
There are purists who believe each character should acquire things
on their own, without the help of another, usually higher-level,
character. Powers of Fate does not have a policy against twinking
characters. It is up to the individual member to decide whether
or not they would like their character to be twinked.

maturity, honor and courtesy to all the citizens of Norrath, helping
